What To Expect - Little Rock, AR

Dental Implants Can Rebuild a Full Set of Strong, Healthy Teeth

What Are Dental Implants?

Missing teeth can significantly impact your oral health and overall well-being, affecting daily life—jaw pain, difficulties chewing and speaking, gum sensitivity, bone loss, gum disease, and even lowered self-esteem. At Dean Dental Solutions, our team understands how these issues can affect your health, so we proudly offer dental implants to restore your smile and function!

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots surgically inserted into the jawbone, offering a strong and stable foundation for replacement teeth. They consist of three main components: the implant fixture, the abutment, and the dental crown. Because of their durability and dependability, dental implants are the preferred solution for tooth restoration compared to traditional dentures, saving you money in the long run. Our North Little Rock, AR, team is proud to be your one-stop shop for quality, affordable dental implants!

What You Can Expect from the Implant Process

Consult & Planning

This phase is a comprehensive evaluation and discussion to determine if dental implants are the right solution for you and to create a personalized treatment plan. During the consultation, we will review your dental and medical history, address your concerns and goals, and perform a thorough oral examination.

Based on this evaluation, we will explain the options available to you, including the number of implants needed, the type of restoration, and any necessary preliminary procedures such as bone grafting or sinus lifts. A customized treatment plan will then be developed, outlining the specific steps involved, the estimated timeline for each stage, and the expected outcome. During this step of the implant timeline, we break down the costs associated with the procedure, discuss payment options, and answer any questions.

The Procedure

We will proceed with the implant placement after the consultation and planning phase. The first step of the procedure will be to administer anesthesia to numb the area and ensure your comfort throughout the surgery. Next, we will make a small incision in your gum tissue to expose the jawbone.

Then, we will insert the titanium posts into the predetermined implant spots and suture the gum tissue over the implants. We will attach an abutment connector and place your temporary prosthesis on top!

Follow-Up Visits

Follow-up visits are crucial for monitoring your healing after the dental implant procedure. During these appointments, we will address any discomfort, check for signs of infection, and answer any questions you may have.

We will also evaluate the implant’s stability to ensure it has properly fused with the jawbone, assess the health of the surrounding gums, and your overall oral health. Whether you received a single implant or full-mouth dental implants, we will ensure your implant is healing accordingly during this visit.

Healing & Final Restorations

Osseointegration, the critical phase where the implant post fuses directly with the jawbone, typically takes several months to ensure a stable foundation for the final restorations. After osseointegration, a minor second surgery may be needed to place the abutment, a small connector post that extends above the gum line.

We will then take impressions to create a custom artificial tooth—a crown, bridge, or denture—that matches your natural teeth. The final step is attaching this restoration to the abutment, either by screwing or cementing it in place. After the final restorations are placed, you can enjoy a fully restored smile worth showing off!
